COMMENTS ON PAST BOARD METING FROM DIRECTOR TOM TARPLEY.
- Announced that Dick Schwinger, Holly Hills, is new State Treasurer. New State Tournament Director will be Lloyd Simpson, Tantallon.
- Several women have expressed an interest in having a separate MISGA chapter. They were advised that we were not interested in having a separate chapter for women, however, they would be able to join any regular MISGA chapter.
The Director recognized Herb Hanson, Hunt Valley, for all his work on our MISGA Gram. He reported that the MISGA Gram will probably be put on the web in future years. He mentioned that each Club Representative is responsible for posting the MISGA Gram on their bulletin boards for those that do not have E-Mail addresses
- The director further reported that MISGA dues of $10.00 are under consideration to be lowered to $5.00 in the future.
OLD BUSINESS
Tom Taylor stated that the Round Robin draft had been sent out for review and consideration. Favorable and unfavorable feedback had been received. He stated that six people are needed for the team, however, it does not need to be the same six players each time. Match play; Points accumulated; Match play champion at the end of the year. Opt in or opt out!
ANNUAL REPORTS
The director reported that the annual report that we do at the end of each year can be used to show clubs it is profitable for them to have MISGA events at their clubs. Over $200,000 reported so far, in revenue was generated in the Division this year. Six clubs have not submitted to date.
NEW BUSINESS
Leo Duncan nominated Tom Taylor from Quail Valley for Assistant Director for the Division. The motion was seconded and passed.
Perceptions about MISGA were discussed and it was stated that everyone needs to be honest in reporting scores and that we need to work with the PRO’s at our clubs to help “clean up” handicap problems.
Charlie Gailunas led a discussion on how we market for new members and solicited feedback from the group. The issue of slow play was also discussed. One suggestion was made that we have Rangers on the courses.
Larry Munson, Hunt Valley made the following motion: “ I move that we adopt a scoring system for the annual PRO-AM that follows the USGA scoring system guidelines. You would use 20% of the A players handicap, 15% of the B player, 10% of the C player, and 5% or the D player.” Motion was seconded and passed.
The Director closed the meeting at approximately 11:20 A.M., and the group had lunch followed by golf.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Strosnider, Secretary
